Caddo Nation chairwoman Tamara Francis-Fourkiller has said that an anonymous donor has paid $2.5 million late Saturday afternoon in a plea to release everyone arrested on Thursday at the Dakota Access pipeline site.
Who knows where the donations came from? Will it have an effect on actually freeing the prisoners? Since the Dakota Access Pipeline has been underway, thousands of protestors and activists have shown up to show support. Many of those who have come are members of tribes from across the US, launching a huge and continuing protest that has become a rallying cry for indigenous rights, climate change activism and environmental conservation.
The head of the Standing Rock Sioux have stated that the pipeline, a project of the Texas-based corporation Energy Transfer Partners, threatens the water supply and cultural heritage and would destroy sacred lands.
